The Face Behind the Prism
Hi, I am Roxanne, the owner of Prismatic Massage. I am a Louisiana native, and have lived in New Orleans for 15 years. I graduated from the Delgado Massage Therapy Program and have been a licensed massage therapist since 2019. I believe that massage therapy plays a crucial role in leading a healthy and balanced life and I am dedicated to helping YOU find that balance through therapeutic touch.
My mother was a nurse, so I have always been fascinated with the human body and its amazing abilities from a young age. My passion to learn massage was born out of a quest for alternative therapies to help with my mother’s chronic pain from an autoimmune disorder. While some massage helped my mother immensely, I noticed that a lot of therapists had a “no pain no gain” philosophy and my mother would end up in more pain from some sessions. This inspired me to learn therapeutic touch. My mission is to remind the body how it functions as a whole, while also calming the nervous system, allowing the mind and body to “let go.”
I spent 20 years in the restaurant industry before branching off into full time bodywork. I am no stranger to the body pains, stress, fatigue, and anxiety that many people face, especially those in the service industry. There was a point in my life where I had no idea how tense my entire body was or how to relax. I thought it was normal to be in pain all of the time. I also thought massage was a “luxury.” I was wrong. It is a human right. Every BODY deserves a safe massage they enjoy.
My approach to massage is “do no harm” by using firm but non-invasive techniques to achieve pain-free deep massage. I combine many different modalities to provide client-centered and outcome-based sessions, tailored to suit each person’s needs. My sessions are intuitive, soothing, and safe.
Always eager to learn something new, I have taken continuing education courses in myofascial release, sciatic pain relief, stretching, Thai massage, facial gua sha, hot stones, and cupping and have a special interest in trauma informed touch.
When I am not doing bodywork, you can find me curled up with my cat and my nose in a book, enjoying live music/art around the city with my fiance, and dressing up for Mardi Gras.
