Frequently Asked Questions

What is your service area?

Serving Algier’s Point and most of New Orleans. Please add address when booking and I will confirm that you are in the service area. Some travel charges may apply for addresses out of the service area.

What to expect?

Once your address is confirmed and your appointment is booked, you may fill out your forms online. I will arrive approximately 10 minutes prior to appointment time to allow for set up and intake. Be ready to start your session at the scheduled time. Have an open space cleared that is at least 9 x 6 feet. We will discuss needs, preferences, and medical history and come up with a treatment plan. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about your session. I will step out of the room for you to disrobe. Most massage is traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you. You can undress to YOUR level of comfort. You will be properly draped at all times to help keep you warm and comfortable. Make yourself cozy underneath the top sheet and blanket. During the massage, I will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session. Many people just close their eyes and relax, some even fall asleep. Please do not be afraid to communicate during the session for things like more/less pressure, discomfort, or anything else relevant to the session. At the end of the session, I will step out of the room again while you slowly come back to reality and get dressed. I will break down all equipment, and we can discuss some self-care or future treatment options. Then I will leave and you can bask in your massage bliss!

Does massage hurt?

Massage does not have to hurt to be effective. If you experience any pain or discomfort during our session, please let me know so I may modify your treatment to suit your body’s needs.

Do you do deep tissue/deep pressure?

It is a common misconception that deep tissue is just a deep pressure massage. Deep tissue is a modality that requires time and just the right kind of pressure in order to get past the superficial muscles and into the deeper layer. Deep pressure is a heavy handed pressure and often triggers the “fight or flight” response and can cause resistance in the body.

While I am able to meet most people’s firm pressure needs, I do consider myself a “less is more” practitioner, working slowly to coax the tension from the body and release the nervous system gently. I have a policy of working with the body and not bullying it. I will go as deep as your tissue will allow.

Who can get a massage?

I believe every BODY deserves a safe and informed massage, no matter your race, gender, identity, body type, medical condition, diagnosis, history, or previous experience with massage. Period.

I do not tolerate racism, sexism, ableism or any other forms of prejudice. That means you are SAFE ON MY TABLE

I know a lot about muscles and anatomy, but you are the expert in your own body. This is a collaboration. Let’s work together so you can feel illuminated!
